WAYS TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM STDS

Dr. Manu Rajput

How can you protect yourself from STDs and STIs

There has always been an enraging debate on safe sex, including what safe sex is or how one can indulge in safe sex practices. However, the general notion about safe sex is having sex with only one partner who has indulged in sexual activity with you.

Neither of you has sexually transmitted diseases or infections (STDs or STIs). Though, there are a lot of contradictions to this notion to be true. Many doctors believe that there is no such thing exists as safe sex.

As most forms of sex have some minimal risk. Nevertheless, suppose we take some required precautions and safe behaviour. In that case, we can minimize the chances of a person’s risk of contracting sexually transmitted diseases.

TYPES OF STDs:

Let us first know how many types of STDs are there.

STDs (also known as sexually transmitted diseases or STIs) come in a variety of forms, including:

Chlamydia

Gonorrhea

Hepatitis

Herpes

HIV/AIDS

Human papillomavirus (HPV) (HPV)

Syphilis

Trichomoniasis

Warts

Indications that you could have an STD

While symptoms vary, the following might point to an STD:

Symptoms of genital infection include:

Unusual discharge from the penis.

Bumps, warts, or sores around the cervix, penis, or anus.

Itching, pain, and swelling near the vagina, penis, or anus.

Pain during sexual activity.

Vaginal discharge with an unpleasant odour and abnormal discolouration.

Vaginal bleeding may occur while you are not on your period.

These other symptoms include:

Urination that is uncomfortable or too frequent.

Skin irritation.

Jaundice

Chills and fever, along with pain.

Weight loss.

Diahorrea.

Nighttime perspiration.

Unknown cause of painful throat or mouth sores/lesions.

Let’s discuss general notions about sex and some ways to protect yourself from STDs (Sexually Transmitted Diseases):

Kissing is 100% safe: No. But on the contrary, diseases such as herpes and others can be spread this way.

Condoms are considered the safest way to protect against STDs: It is true that, to some extent, condoms can prevent diseases like herpes, chlamydia, and gonorrhoea, but still, the risk persists. We can’t guarantee 100% of safety, as nobody can. But if we follow these guidelines, we can lessen the chances of STDs. Before putting these guidelines to you, let us assure you that these guidelines are based not only on studies but also on patient experiences.

Always think twice before indulging with a new sex partner: First, discuss their past partners and history of STDs. Please ensure that they don’t involve any drug abuse. Always use condoms in any condition. Sometimes, especially boys tend to ignore the importance of condoms during intercourse which costs them dearly. The material is also essential here; male condoms should be made of latex or polyurethane. A female condom should also be made of polyurethane. Please note that some people are allergic to latex condoms. During oral sex, please ensure that your partner wears a condom and or you are using a dental dam. Protection against STDs is essential as it could spread the infection further into the reproductive tract and even cause Infertility.

Always go through regular check-ups: Go for investigations like Pap tests, pelvic examinations, and frequent tests for STDs.

Always look for the signs: You can check characters, including- signs of a sore, blister, rash, or discharge.

Well, these guidelines you can follow to have safe sex, and you don’t have to spend anything to follow these.

MALE MENOPAUSE / ANDROPAUSE AND IT’S MANAGEMENT THROUGH AYURVEDA INTRODUCTION Andropause is a condition characterized by a reduced level of testosterone with increased age. Although there is no complete cessation of testosterone synthesis, bioavailable testosterone is very low. Unlike allopathic medicines, treatment of andropause through Ayurveda does not have side effects.  ANDROPAUSE or MALE MENOPAUSE “Getting old” is not the accurate excuse for the aging male suffering from various symptoms such as insomnia, weight gain and loss of libido.
